Romance of the Hell

Ask for no romance of the hell,
It has an air of rotten stench.
What it reminds of – could you tell?
A thirst impossible to quench.

Fight never for the cause of sin,
Nor waste your breath for its defense,
When you find courage – look within –
A stranger laughs at your expense.

Ask for no peace of warring lords,
Hope for no mercy when you’re caught –
Unheeded left your begging words
When body to the scaffold brought.

Seek never answers in this world,
Pray not for body to maintain
Your love and soul – both had been sold
For chance in body to remain.

Gestas

“I look at me – I see but flesh –
Not rotting yet, but death is near…
When thoughts and dreams no longer clash
I see myself unsettling clear –

To death succumbed, I’m lost in dark
Yet realizing – I still live!
The body’s gone, but there’s a spark
Expressing one thought – to forgive.

A thought, which hardly had occurred
When I perceived with body’s eyes
Forgiveness seemed to be absurd
Replaced with hate through worldly lies.

When thoughts so dark ruled over me,
And light was seen in hues of blood,
I was determined to break free,
Tied by my thoughts – all was for naught.

Sick, sluttish thoughts – I’ve sold my soul!
Pimped my pure Self to hellish fiends –
Through my own sins they have control
The wicked rulers of my dreams!

A nightmare, living hell this is!
Why did I choose to dream such rot?
Why did I trade my precious peace,
Abandoning the only God?

The lessons harsh – I chose myself,
When I have fallen deep asleep
Into the world of seeming hell,
Into abyss of pain so deep”.

Time never stops until it does,
The wicked cycle still goes on –
A body rotting on the cross
Still prays for dreams to be undone.

The World Outside

Based on ACIM Workbook lesson 11:
My meaningless thoughts are showing me a meaningless world

Outside of me – what is it there I value so?
Pointless remain the things and “meaning” that they hold,
For it is me, who lets the meaning of the world
In me unfold, and hide what I forgot I know.

Outside of me – the pain, the suffering, the hate
That world beliefs, enforces with much joy
Being itself but meaningless decoy
The world believes it knows its fate.

Outside of me, there is so much, so many things,
So many thoughts, so many deeds of guilt,
The deeds of hate and lust this world has built.
What is outside is where I hide my sins.

Outside’s not me. I cannot be perceived outside
I’m seeking for an answer – “What am I?
Am I this body, destined soon to die?
Or am I love, that I can feel inside?”

Inside of me lies perfect truth, yet I don’t see
Or am afraid to look so bluntly at the lies
That world endorses so, yet also hides –
The lies of world maintain that I’m not free.

And so I live, and so I walk – or even crawl
At times when I’m unsure of this path,
At times when I’m so lost in worldly fuss –
Thus world of pain does hold me its own thrall.

But day will come, when I wake up, and finally feel
The pain and suffering of world I so perceived
And all the pain through hate myself received,
Could not be happening in truth, could not be real.

When this day comes – a day so bright and pure
A day when world will lose its own allure
And will maintain no things that still me lure
That day will bring my final, only cure.

Upsets

Based on ACIM workbook lesson 5:
I am never upset for the reason I think

So many things of this world bring you down,
So many things cause you to frown –
Each one is different to you.
You think you know why you’re upset,
You think there is a difference how things affect,
The life you dream of going through.

The choice to be upset is but your own,
The laws of suffering you’ve carved in stone,
And then decided to forget
How world of suffering’s been made,
How you yourself created hate,
How your own thoughts make you upset.

And your own thoughts, so cherished whims,
Through which the pure Voice but ever dims,
Inside of your own tired mind –
Does all this really worth the strife,
That you are going through in life,
Unable happiness to find?

All your upsets and all your struggles here
Arise from only your own fear –
The fear of trading body for the Truth.
You think upsets are caused by unfair world,
But your own thoughts bring pain untold –
Yet seeing thus you still refuse.

Changes

A joke of life, a cruel game,
That we have no choice but to play,
And isn’t it a tragic shame,
That life of ours does often sway
When we’re unsure of the way,
In which to go, in which to look,
In which to search for our own peace
Not having naught, a shame it is,
Until of past we’ve closed the book.

But even then – the future looms
Not unlike savage beast, vile and unknown,
What does it bring and how it dooms
When all our hopes to it are thrown!
We thus become to suffering so prone.
The changes are where future is,
All changes, all’s consumed tomorrow,
For the unknown brings us our sorrow,
And takes as price our precious peace.

The changes bring the suffering,
And with it come both guilt and shame
For failure of uncovering
The purpose of our hateful blame,
Towards our brothers, who are same
Just as ourselves, in mist so lost,
Of such variety in life,
Which brings calamity of strife,
And in the end we pay the cost.

The cost of peace, the cost of love so true,
The cost for our deeds – unconscious as they are,
They still wear us and drag us through
The world of hell, from peace so far,
As we’re forgetting What we are.
For how would we remember love
When we in sin do still believe
And so with sin imagined we do live
Our pure Self seems cut in half.

Cut by our hate, and separation ‘tween the halves
Is strengthened still, through our guilt and fear,
And through attachment to our plans
That we so cherish, hold so dear,
Not letting Truth approach e’en near,
Out of our fear that it’ll expose
The unreality of all
That we have gathered since the fall,
Afraid of our imagined loss.

The tale of loss keeps us apart,
Believing still in gain through loss,
We fight each other, play our part
In ego’s wicked game of the remorse
That we still feel and cherish from across
The boundary of time and space
Which keeps you “better” than another,
Which keeps you separate from brother,
Unrecognized remains the face.

The face of Christ, which can’t be lost,
Which can’t be gained, for there’s no need
For that of which there is no cost,
That which is you – you need but heed
The words that sound how you are freed.
Freed from the pain and suffering
Of this so weary world unreal,
Of all the shame and guilt you feel,
From all the changes world does bring.

Sonnets of Love – 14

I walk this world, and search, but then I’m still
So lost, yet no more at a loss –
Outside of me Truth cannot be.
I’m strong, but that’s not how this body feels,
And so I’m searching for the cause –
Is it preventing me to see?

Sonnets of Love – 13

The perfect love in which we are
Seems far away, impossible to reach
Do you remember why?
I know for one, the Love cannot be far
This world is simply made to teach,
And what we see is nothing but a lie.

The Laws of Death

You look around and misperceive,
You walk this world and you believe,
That everything you see around
Reflects the laws of time,
To which you’re bound.

The time, a seeming master of your life,
It forces you to live forever in a strife,
To struggle, trying to survive –
Survival you’ve confused with life.

The Laws of Death are rulers in this dream:
It is by their word you die
And realize that life had only seemed –
The rulers of your dream will not conceal a lie,
To hide from you their essence – which you dreamed.

It is a world in which you only seem to live
And you are following these Laws of Death,
Because you’ve chosen to believe
That your life depends on body’s breath.

There is no world

There is no world – thus the main theme of A Course In Miracles can be summarized.

The ego gathers evidence to the contrary, day and night. The only goal the ego pursues is to prove to you that there is in fact a world. There is a universe and you’re a body. You live on earth and you have real needs. You have to honor needs, or else – you suffer, wither and die.

Everything is built around this theme in this world – there is virtually nothing and no one who helps you to see differently. It is a prison where prisoners imagine to be kings, and they will not allow a dissident to break free and show them the beauty behind the barbwire.

There is no world – you learn of this and now you know no better but to deny the world. Deny your bodily needs, deny the laws the ego set forth for you. But how can you deny something you don’t believe in?

Denying the ego is what makes it seemingly real. Your thought is what gave rise to this illusion, and the denial is yet another thought. Until you learn to give the world no thought at all, it will be there for you, tormenting you forever.

What does it mean to give no thought at all? It means to not judge. You see the world for what it is and you do not judge one thing to be better or worse, more or less special. While you are here your body has some needs – you fulfill them, but you do not seek your purpose in them. You continue to function – but with a gentle smile upon your face, forgiving the sin you know does not exist.
